Therapy for Men

Practical, Conversational Therapy in-person in Red Bank and online throughout NJ, MA, FL, and VT

Maybe you’re keeping up with work, relationships, and responsibilities, so everyone assumes you’re doing well. Privately, you may feel anxious, discouraged, irritable, disconnected, or simply stuck.

You might know something needs to change without knowing how to begin, or without wanting therapy to become another obligation you have to manage.

Therapy doesn’t have to mean clinical jargon, uncomfortable silence, or talking endlessly without getting anywhere. We’ll have honest, practical conversations about what isn’t working, what you want to be different, and what steps can help you move forward.

What Brings Men to Therapy?

Some men begin therapy because a relationship is struggling or has ended. Others are dealing with work stress, anxiety, depression, anger, loneliness, poor sleep, a health concern, or uncertainty about the next stage of life. You may be questioning decisions you’ve made, repeating patterns you want to change, or finding that the ways you have always handled your problems are no longer working.

You don’t need to have a diagnosis or wait until things become unmanageable. Therapy can be a place to understand what’s happening, speak frankly, and decide what you want to do differently.

Therapy That’s Conversational and Useful

You won’t be expected to arrive knowing exactly what to talk about. I will listen carefully, ask questions, and help us identify the concerns or patterns that deserve our attention. Together, we’ll work toward a clearer understanding of what is happening and practical strategies you can use outside of therapy.

Before becoming a therapist, I spent 15 years as a middle and high school teacher. That experience continues to shape my approach: I’m warm and supportive, but also active, direct, and focused on helping you move forward. I draw primarily from Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) while tailoring our work to your personality, situation, and goals.

What Can Change?

Therapy can help you understand your reactions more clearly, communicate more effectively, and respond differently to situations that repeatedly cause stress or conflict. It can also help you make decisions with greater confidence instead of remaining caught between overthinking and avoidance.

The goal is to help you feel more capable of handling difficult emotions, relationships, responsibilities, and transitions in a way that works better for you. We’re not trying to change you into someone else.
