Memory Loss Evaluations

Alzheimer's Disease and other Dementias
Have you noticed trouble recalling important dates, events, or conversations? Have you been asking the same information over and over? Do you struggle to find the right word? If yes, a neuropsychological examination can determine whether these are a a part of normal aging or an illness.

Stroke and Head Injuries
Recovering from a stroke, head injury, or concussion is often difficult. Daily tasks that used to be easy become a challenge. You may become more easily upset or irritated. Your speech may change, and memory may decline. While depression may never have been an issue for you in the past, a stroke sometimes increases symptoms of depression. A neuropsychological examination can determine what specific brain problems exist and give recommendations.

Evaluations can reveal areas of daily functioning (e.g., financial management) with which the patient may need assistance and  indicate rehabilitation potential. For example, will the individual benefit from certain cognitive or behavioral treatments, occupational therapy, or pharmacotherapy?
