Q: What kind of people do you tend to work with?
Most of our clients are people who are experiencing some trouble in their life (relationship difficulties, life transitions, school issues, depression, anxiety) or feel ready to move beyond some past issue or limitation to create a more fulfilling life. We are sensitive, open, and trained to work with people of all ages and any race, culture, religion, and sexual orientation.
Q. Is the information you find out about me private?
We follow professional code of conduct standards and state guidelines regarding privacy. All information is held in the strictest confidence. We will not release any information about you without your written permission. At times, it is helpful for us to speak to another professional, such as your primary care doctor or a psychiatrist, but to do that we would need to discuss it with you first and get your permission. There are, however, rare exceptions to confidentiality, as mandated by law. These exceptions include situations when someone is a threat to him/herself or others, or when there is an indication of suspected child abuse, dependent adult or elder abuse.
Q: When do you see clients?
Dayna meets with clients, weekdays, in-person or via video chat.
Dr. Stein does in-person evaluations in his Red Bank office and also sees admitted patients at Hackensack Meridian Health's Riverview Medical Center.
Q: How often would I come in?
Dayna prefers to see people weekly, at least for the first month. She finds this provides the best momentum for creating and sustaining change in people's lives. Dr. Stein typically sees people who need evaluations for one lengthy session.
Q: How many sessions would I see you?
Dayna sees most clients between anywhere from 10 to 25 times, though the duration of therapy is up to you. It depends greatly on your goal, the complexity of the situation, and your readiness to change.
Q: How long does a session last?
The initial consultant lasts about 60 minutes. Subsequent mental health therapy sessions run about 45 minutes.
Pre-bariatric and Spinal Stimulator surgery evaluations are two hours long. Neuropsychological examinations range from 4 to 8 hours.
Q: What is your fee? What forms of payment do you accept? How does this work with my insurance?
Your first phone call is free (approximately 15 minutes). Please refer to our Fees & Insurance page for session charges.
